Can dentures look natural?
Yes, they can. But usually not from a quick, cheap denture mill. You will get what you pay for. It may help if you have a close up photo of your smile when your teeth were healthy to gauge size, shape, etc. Good luck, Dr. Hawkins READ MORE
What can I put on my gums to stop hurting after dentures?
Ask your dentist to do a soft liner/reline. It’s temporary, i.e., lasts a few weeks, but will cushion the gum tissue as you heal. I never charged for this with a new denture the patient got from me. Good luck! READ MORE
Are getting teeth implants painful?
Implants are usually not painful. They’re done with local anesthesia and usually do not require pain medications, other than perhaps Tylenol, etc. They are a much more comfortable procedure than a typical tooth extraction. Ron H., DDS READ MORE
Can you have anesthesia for tooth sealants?
No. It is a simple, painless, short process. Never a procedure to do sealants. READ MORE
Is it normal for wisdom teeth to come in at 17?
That may be a little earlier than average, but not unheard of. I've seen them show up anywhere from 15 to 25 years of age or so. Ask your dentist to review with an appropriate X-ray, if there is room for them to stay or if they need to be removed to prevent crowding of all his other teeth. Sincerely, Dr. Ron H READ MORE
How do you remove hard plaque from your teeth?
It's not a do-it-yourself project if it is heavily calcified onto your teeth. Requires dental scalers to remove the plaque and not damage the tooth or the gum tissue. Find a dentist with a good hygienist to go to for best results. Good luck! READ MORE
Does a root canal require anesthesia?
Yes, all root canal procedures are done under local anesthesia. Endo/root canal treatment is very predictable and in almost all cases is pretty much painless. Good luck. READ MORE
How do I get rid of my bad breath?
There can be several sources of bad breath. Most likely is periodontal disease, i.e., unhealthy, chronically infected gums. It is marked by swollen, puffy, and sometimes bleeding gums. Other possibilities include diabetic issues, decay in one or more teeth, abscessed tooth or teeth. Diet can also play a roll in bad breath. How long since you’ve seen your dentist and had a dental/periodontal exam? Had your teeth cleaned, etc.? Start with a visit to your dentist and hygienist. They can examine you, take perio pocket depth, measurements, and X-rays to find bone loss and severe pocketing, etc. Bacteria in pockets around your teeth that are too deep to be reached by brushing harbor the bugs that stink up the breath. Go see your dentist ASAP. Periodontal disease also has been linked to heart disease and stroke. Good luck. READ MORE
