Get to know Pediatric Radiologist Dr. Lori Lee Barr, who serves patients throughout the State of Florida.
Dr. Barr, aka The Doctor’s Mentor, is an internationally recognized pediatric radiologist, inventor, mentor, speaker, and best-selling author. A true trailblazer in the medical industry, she helps her patients and their doctors each year in Pensacola, Florida.
A career consultant, scaling strategist, and visionary in practice, Dr. Barr leverages her pattern recognition abilities honed during 30-plus years of diagnostic image interpretation to help physician specialists recognize practice patterns that squelch the joy of being the doctor they dreamed of being in medical school. Then, they work together to scale their practice and their expertise to create more time freedom, influence, and profits so the joy returns to the relationships they build with their patients and others they love.
“I assist physician specialists and other professionals to scale their practice and their expertise, so they have more time and money to take care of themselves, have more time with those they love, and treat their patients better. No need to keep striving for more money, power or time off if you’ve lost touch with your reason for being. My proteges get clear on where they are, what they want next, and who they need to become to achieve that desired outcome” expressed Dr. Barr.
Among her other roles, Dr. Barr is a partner of Radiology Associates of Florida, P.A., where she serves as the Panhandle Member-at-Large, Panhandle Division Director, and Chair of the Patient Safety Committee; Chairman of the Department of Medical Imaging at Ascension Sacred Heart Pensacola; and Director & Chief Curator at The Doctors Mentor.
Both the American College of Radiology (FACR) and the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (FAIUM) named her as a fellow for teaching, research, clinical care, and community advocacy. She is also a Radiological Society of North America Scholar.
Graduating with her undergraduate degree from Lipscomb University, Dr. Barr went on to earn her medical degree from the Louisiana State University School of Medicine. She then furthered her training with a residency in diagnostic radiology and a fellowship in pediatric radiology at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston.
Board-certified in both pediatric radiology and diagnostic radiology, the doctor is a Diplomate of the American Board of Radiology (ABR). The ABR is an independent, not-for-profit organization and is one of 24 national medical specialty boards that make up the American Board of Medical Specialties.
“When I was little, I fell in love with life. I loved growing up in New Orleans and summers at my grandparent’s farm in Alabama. I love animals and people. I love writing and reading. When I became a medical doctor, I got to direct some of that love into a career filled with wonder and excitement that continues to this day. I love seeing how beautiful my patients are on the inside and I love how my patients get excited when I show them a picture of how their insides are made or of how their body works” stated Dr. Barr.
Pediatric radiology is a subspecialty of radiology involving the imaging of fetuses, infants, children, adolescents and young adults. Pediatric radiologists are specially trained to understand the unique needs of children, parents, and pediatricians in the diagnostic process. Many pediatric radiologists practice at children’s hospitals.
On a more personal note, Dr. Barr has the time and the resources to direct the rest of her love toward her own mind, body, and spirit and assisting her family and friends as they take care of themselves. She also encourages physicians to remember that life is more than their medical practice. The better they take care of themselves, the more likely their loved ones, practice partners and patients are to be inspired into amazing action in their lives.
Other things she loves to do are family farming, scuba diving and snorkeling, listening to live music, enjoying live stage plays, and visiting New Orleans.
