Get to know highly respected dentist and implant expert, Dr. Edward Kusek, who creates and maintains healthy, natural smiles.
Dr. Kusek established his practice in Sioux City 35 years ago to provide accessible and affordable dental care for patients of all ages. His speciality is the use of soft and hard tissue lasers which significantly improves the healing times of his patients. The practice is certified to administer conscious sedation allowing treatment for the most anxious of patients.
Dr. Kusek earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Creighton University, a private Jesuit College in Omaha, NE. He then continued his education and attended the University Of Nebraska College Of Dentistry and earned his Doctorate in Dental Surgery.
Mastering the use of laser surgery, Dr. Kusek has lectured nationally and internationally for organizations such as the Academy of General Dentistry, the Academy of Laser Dentistry, American Dental Association, Tufts University, and the University of Nebraska. He is also a clinical instructor for Straumann Dental Implants and Ultradent Products, Inc.
The recipient of numerous awards and accolades, Dr. Kusek also holds several other higher levels of distinction as an honored Fellow of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, as well as Masterships in the Academy of General Dentistry and the Academy of Laser Dentistry. He has been named Dentistry Today’s Leaders in Continuing Education three years in a row, and America’s Best Dentist for five years and counting. He is also a recipient of the Life Long Learning and Service to Dentistry Award from the Academy of General Dentistry for five consecutive years.
Furthermore, he is also a long time member of the American Dental Association, South Dakota Dental Association, and Southeastern Dental Society. Additionally, Dr. Kusek serves as an adjunct professor for the hygiene program at the University of South Dakota.
Dr. Kusek has been published in well respected journals and has authored multiple articles including: Soft Tissue Management after Implant Placement; Implant Placement in Infected Sites; Five Year Retrospective Study of Laser-Assisted Periodontal Therapy; Lasers Expand the Procedural Scope for General Dentists, and many more.
When he is not working, Dr. Kusek is a diehard NCAA Cornhusker fan and enjoys running, golfing and traveling. Married for over 30 years, he and his wife have three children, one of which has joined his dental practice. His four grandchildren are the light of his life and surely keep him on his toes, especially with a set of twins in the mix.
