Georgia Cancer Specialists (GCS) proudly highlights the invaluable contributions of Dr. Jorge Leguizamo, MD, FACP, a board-certified physician specializing in medical oncology and hematology. With over 20 years of dedicated experience, Dr. Leguizamo is a vital part of the GCS team, practicing in both Cumming and Gwinnett, Georgia.

Dr. Leguizamo brings extensive expertise in treating a range of conditions, including hematological malignancies, breast cancer, paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH), and atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS). His deep understanding of these complex disorders, combined with his commitment to patient-centered care, positions him as a leading figure in advanced cancer treatment within the region.

Dr. Leguizamo earned his Medical Degree from the prestigious Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons in 1995. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at the Naval Medical Center San Diego, followed by fellowships at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Walter Reed Army Medical Center, and the National Cancer Institute’s Gastrointestinal Malignancies Group, ensuring he is at the forefront of oncology and hematology advancements.

In addition to his clinical expertise, Dr. Leguizamo has served as an Assistant Professor at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, contributing to the education of future physicians. His research efforts have led to numerous publications in esteemed medical literature, further advancing the field of oncology.

As a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine, Dr. Leguizamo is board-certified in both hematology and medical oncology. His membership in prestigious organizations, including the American College of Physicians, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, and the American Society of Hematology, underscores his dedication to the ongoing advancement of cancer care.
