Before embarking on his professional journey, he obtained his medical degree from the prestigious University of California San Diego School of Medicine, graduating in 1985. To further enhance his expertise in healthcare management, he pursued advanced studies at Harvard University, earning a Master of Science degree in Health Care Management in 2005.
