Leading Expert in Surgical Oncology Brings Extensive Experience to Jersey Shore University Medical Center

A seasoned surgical oncologist, Dr. Gibbs is the Clinical Director of Oncology for the HMH Southern Region. With over three decades of surgical experience and a commitment to advancing cancer care, he also serves as the Director of the Operating Room at Jersey Shore University Medical Center.

In his clinical role, he oversees the oncology program, driving initiatives that enhance patient outcomes and optimize treatment pathways. He works closely with a dedicated team of oncologists, nurses, and support staff to implement cutting-edge technologies and evidence-based practices in cancer treatment.

Before embarking on his professional journey, he obtained his medical degree from the prestigious University of California San Diego School of Medicine, graduating in 1985. He completed his surgical residency at Rush University Medical Center in 1990, honing his skills in a variety of surgical procedures and patient care protocols. To further enhance his expertise in healthcare management, he pursued advanced studies at Harvard University, earning a Master of Science degree in Health Care Management in 2005.

As a board-certified surgeon by the American Board of Surgery, Dr. Gibbs has dedicated his career to the field of surgical oncology. His extensive experience includes performing complex surgeries on patients with various types of cancer, developing innovative treatment plans, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care. His leadership in the operating room and commitment to clinical excellence make him an invaluable asset to HMH and the communities it serves.
