Dr. Parekattil is a distinguished urologist who is recognized for his innovative work in robotic microsurgery and male infertility treatment. He is the Director of Avant Concierge Urology in Winter Garden, Florida, and has performed over 3000 microsurgical procedures. He has also developed a multi-disciplinary program dedicated to the treatment of male infertility and groin/testicular pain.
Before pursuing medicine, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan, which has given him a unique perspective on incorporating technology, robotics, and microsurgery into surgical techniques. He completed his residency in urology at Albany Medical Center and then completed dual fellowship training at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, specializing in laparoscopic/robotic surgery and microsurgery/male infertility.
Subsequent to his education, the doctor attained board certification in urology through the American Board of Urology (ABU). The mission of the ABU is to act for the benefit of the public by establishing and maintaining standards of certification for urologists, working with certified urologists to achieve lifelong learning to insure the delivery of high quality, safe and ethical urologic care.
In addition to his clinical role, Dr. Parekattil is a a founding board member of the Robotic Assisted Microsurgical & Endoscopic Society (RAMSES) and the International Microsurgical Simulation Society (IMSS), both of which focus on developing new tools and platforms for robotic-assisted microsurgery and improving microsurgical training techniques. He also serves on the foundation board for Florida Polytechnic University in Lakeland, Florida, and is an Executive Board Member of the Florida Urological Society.
With a passion for teaching, he serves as an Associate Professor of Urology at the University of Central Florida, and is a Visiting Professor at the University of Zambia, Lusaka, Africa.
