Being an experienced orthopaedic surgeon, Dr. Simovitch specializes in complex arthroscopic and open surgery of the shoulder, including shoulder replacement and revision shoulder replacement. He is the Associate Medical Director of Ambulatory Services & Director of the Shoulder Division at HSS Florida in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Skilled in his approach to care, Dr. Simovitch prides himself on being able to take care of patients with all shoulder conditions, whether they are related to a sports injury, degenerative changes or trauma. With his experience and training, he is able to use the latest techniques and principles to arthroscopically repair large and massive rotator cuff tears, arthroscopically repair labral tears, stabilize fractures of the clavicle and humerus, as well as perform open instability surgery, tendon transfers, shoulder replacements including both anatomic and reverse, and revision shoulder replacements.

In addition to seeing patients at HSS Florida, he is currently a team physician for two of the St. Louis Cardinals MiLB teams – Palm Beach Cardinals & Gulf Coast League Cardinals. He also assists in the care of MiLB and MLB St. Louis Cardinal players at the Jupiter Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.

Academically, Dr. Simovitch attended Duke University for his undergraduate education and earned his medical degree from the Chicago Medical School at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science in 2000. He returned back to Duke University Medical Center where he completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery. During this residency, he developed a passion for sports related shoulder injuries and treatments when he was chosen as the resident to provide team coverage to the Duke men’s basketball and football teams.

Following his training, he was awarded the prestigious Harvard Intercontinental Shoulder Fellowship. During this fellowship, he trained at the Massachusetts General Hospital on the Harvard Shoulder Service and at Uniklinik Balgrist in Zurich, Switzerland. His European training allowed him to begin perfecting the technique of reverse shoulder replacement before it was widely available in the United States.

Having been a shoulder surgeon for over two decades, Dr. Simovitch has researched and published extensively on the topic of shoulder arthroplasty, helping to pioneer new techniques, develop cutting-edge implants, and determine how best to provide successful outcomes to patients undergoing shoulder replacement. He has lectured and presented at national and international meetings and is very involved in teaching younger surgeons the principles and techniques of shoulder replacement and arthroscopic rotator cuff and labral repair techniques. He is also a reviewer for the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery.

A member of the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and the Arthroscopy Association of North America, the doctor is board-certified in orthopaedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (ABOS). The ABOS is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopaedic residents and surgeons, as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopaedic surgeons.
