As part of Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Lexington, the team of Dr. Kiev consults with medical oncologists and patients on surgical treatment options for lung cancer as well as other cancers that have spread to the lungs. Dr. Kiev will also perform surgery to treat esophageal cancer and tumors involving mediastinal structures.

Dr. Kiev earned his medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans. He completed a surgical internship at Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, New Jersey and a surgical residency at Hahnemann University in Philadelphia. Dr. Kiev also completed a cardiothoracic surgery fellowship at Loma Linda University Medical Center in Loma Linda, California and a minimally invasive thoracic surgery fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Most recently he completed a fellowship in advanced thoracic surgery at Mayo Clinic.
As an avid researcher of chemotherapy resistance and sensitivity in lung tumors, Dr. Kiev has been published extensively in peer-reviewed journals such as Vascular Surgery, The American Surgeon and The Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery. In addition, he contributed to the Johns Hopkins Manual of Cardiothoracic Surgery and served as a guest reviewer for The American Journal of Surgery and The American Surgeon. Dr. Kiev is also a member of numerous professional associations, including the American College of Surgeons, Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons and the Society of Thoracic Surgeons.
