Get to know Psychiatrist Dr. Julio R. Lozano, who serves patients in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Dr. Lozano is a board-certified psychiatrist who specializes in psychiatric evaluation and psychiatric medication management. He is affiliated with Alivio Medical Center in Indianapolis, Indiana. Alivio Medical Center is committed to practicing high quality, compassionate, and culturally competent medical care. 

Dr. Lozano is also on staff at Osman Clinic & Associates in Indianapolis, Indiana. Established in 2004, Osman Clinic & Associates has been recognized as one of the premier behavioral health care practices in the Midwest. The highly trained staff of psychiatrists, psychologists, licensed clinical social workers, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners treat a wide variety of mental health and behavioral health issues in children, adults, senior adults, and people with intellectual disability. 

Dr. Lozano earned his medical degree from the National University of Colombia in Bogotá, Colombia in 1964. Upon relocating to the United States, he completed his internship at Ascension St. John Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. He then went on to complete his residency in psychiatry at Griffin Memorial Hospital in Norman, Oklahoma.

Dr. Lozano has worked in different capacities including staff psychiatrist, private practice psychiatry and behavioral medical director in hospitals and community mental health centers throughout the years.

Dr. Lozano is board-certified in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). The ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to promoting high quality patient care for the public through the initial and continuing certification of psychiatrists and neurologists.

Psychiatry is the medical specialty devoted to the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of mental disorders. These include various maladaptations related to mood, behaviour, cognition, and perceptions. A psychiatrist, such as Dr. Lozano, helps patients by evaluating medical and psychosocial conditions, developing and implementing treatment plans, as well as monitoring and evaluating treatment results.
