Dr. Jayson Neil, MD, is a board certified fellowship-trained neurosurgeon with the HCA Midwest Health Neuroscience Institute at Research and Menorah Medical Centers in Kansas City. He is currently serving as the Director of Neuroscience for HCA Midwest Health division, Kansas City’s largest health network, and is the Chairman of the Department of Surgery for Research Medical Center. He has fellowships in both skull base/neurovascular surgery and spine surgery, and has received multiple honors and awards for academics, research, and surgical expertise. In his spare time, Dr. Neil enjoys spending time with his family. He is an avid outdoorsman, including whitewater rafting, skiing, and rock climbing.

Dr. Neil holds expertise in complex cranial surgery including skull base lesions, brain tumors, trigeminal neuralgia, and cerebrovascular surgery of diseases such as aneurysms and AVMs. He also has an interest in complex spine surgery for degenerative spine diseases, deformity, and spine/spinal cord tumors.

Dr. Neil completed his undergraduate degree from the University of Utah, where he graduated summa cum laude honors with his Bachelor degree. Furthering his education he graduated with his medical degree from New York Medical College. After obtaining his medical degree, he completed his neurosurgery residency at Westchester Medical Center which included training in pediatric neurosurgery at Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital. He then completed a one year of subspecialty training in complex spine surgery including degenerative spine, revision, deformity, and spine/spinal cord surgery under Dr. Kaushik Das at Westchester Medical Center in New York. Furthering his training he completed his skull base and cerebrovascular surgery neurosurgery fellowship from the University of Utah.

Dr. Neil is certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery. The primary purposes of The American Board of Neurological Surgery (ABNS) are to conduct examinations of candidates who voluntarily seek certification and to issue certificates to those who meet the requirements of the board and satisfactorily complete its examinations. Certification by the ABNS is based on review and evaluation of an applicant’s education, training and practice qualifications as well as successful completion of written and oral examinations.

To stay up to date in his field, he remains a professional member of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, American Medical Association, and the American College of Physicians.

Dr. Neil treats every patient as he would a member of his family, and feels patient education is very important in his practice.
