  • I underwent a root canal treatment and it is in pain again. What could be the reason?

Could be that the tooth is cracked or sometimes the tooth can have some difficult anatomy that may not have been able to be visualized. I would go back to your dentist who did the root canal or see a Root Canal Specialist. A CT scan can be taken to see if there is some extra root tissue that may need treatment. These are three dimensional x rays that aid in finding pesky hidden canals. But I would go back to the dentist who performed it initially, Good luck! READ MORE

  • Is reflux giving me bad breath?

Hmm, i would see your dentist and have your gums evaluated. Sometimes even though you are doing everything possible but there is hard calculus(tartar) under the gums that is contributing to the bad breath. You also may have some tonsillitis (stones in your tonsils) that may be contributing to the bad breath. Best thing would be to first see your dentist. Post nasal drip can cause some bad breath as well. READ MORE

  • Are there any home remedies to treat canker sores?

Try adjusting toothpaste to ones with out Sodium lauryl sulfate in it. This would be a tooth paste like Biotene. Avoiding alcohol containing mouth rinses will help. The detergents like SLS remove the protective layer from the gums and some people are more susceptible to canker sores afterward. Hope that helps! READ MORE

  • Very swollen and red gums after routine dental cleaning

Hard to say, could be trauma, could be inflammation in your gums that is flared up after the cleaning. If you have deep pockets around the teeth these spaces can get inflamed after a cleaning. Hard to say without x rays. I would call your dentist to let them know. They would probably want to see you if it is too bad. READ MORE

  • Clicking in my jaw

Is it painful? Do you have limited mobility? Is it a sudden occurrence? Do you have jaw pain in general or had issues with TMJ in the past? It's not a bad idea to evaluate it, but if it is just noise and no pain or limited mobility, it's something you deal with and maybe get a night guard. The night guard will help keep you from grinding at night. This may be causing some of your issues. READ MORE

  • Bloody painful gums, what should I do?

Its hard to say without x rays and checking the gums to see if something is causing the inflammation. Depending on how long it has been since your last cleaning, there could be calcium deposits(calculus) irritating the gums and which would need to be cleaned off. There could be decay or defective fillings or dental work that is irritating the gums. Again, hard to say without an exam. I would seek out a dentist and get an exam to see what is going on. Use a waterpik for a couple days and you can even put a little bit of peroxide in the water tank to help kill the bacteria that may be causing this. This may help the inflammation. But probably a good time to see a dentist. READ MORE
