From 1995 until 1997, she interned within the Department of Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, and Surgery at Ernest Conseil Hospital and Mongi Slim Hospital, both of which are located in Tunis. After receiving ECFMG accreditation in 1999, she went on to complete her internship and residency within the Department of Internal Medicine at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York from 2000 until 2003.
Published in numerous scientific journals, the doctor is board-certified in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
As a testament to her success, Dr. Boukhris was nominated for the Thesis Award at the Medicine School of Tunis, served as a member of Associa-Med Tunisia, and received the Community Award by the Ministry of Health in Tunisia for her volunteer work in the pediatric departments of the capital. In addition, she conducted research at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition.
