Get to know Gastroenterologist Dr. Praveen Sampath, who serves patients throughout the State of Texas.

A fellowship-trained gastroenterologist, Dr. Sampath works in both the in-patient and out-patient settings, thereby providing a more comprehensive patient care. He offers services at multiple locations in Texas, including Ascension Seton Medical Center Austin, Ascension Seton Northwest Hospital, and Ascension Seton Williamson Hospital.

There, he performs routine endoscopic procedures like colonoscopy and endoscopy as well as more complex and advanced endoscopic procedures like endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), and endoscopic stenting. He also provides accurate and thorough care for patients suffering from digestive issues.

Educated in India, Dr. Sampath graduated with his medical degree from Sri Venkateswara Medical College in 1999. He then relocated to the United States, performing his internship, residency in internal medicine, and fellowship in gastroenterology at the State University of New York at Buffalo.

An authority in his field, the doctor is board-certified in gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Passionate about his profession, Dr. Sampath is an active member of the American Medical Association, the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Gastroenterological Association, the Travis County Medical Society, the Texas Medical Association, and the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.

Practicing medicine in Texas, he is affiliated with St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center, Cedar Park Regional Medical Center, Hendrick Medical Center Abilene, and Hendrick Medical Center Brownwood.

Gastroenterology is the branch of medicine focused on the digestive system and its disorders. A gastroenterologist is a physician who has extensive training in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders related to the esophagus, stomach, small intestines, colon, liver, pancreas, and biliary system.

Attributing his success to his passion for work, a commitment to patient care, and strong support from his wife and kids, Dr. Sampath is the recipient of the Patients’ Choice Award (2018, 2017).

On a more personal note, his hobbies include soccer and football. His favorite place to vacation is in the Maldives, and his favorite professional publications are Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and the American Journal of Gastroenterology. He is fluent in English, Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil.
