Get to know Neurosurgeon Dr. Oded Goren, who serves patients in Danville, Pennsylvania.

A top neurosurgeon, Dr. Goren is an Associate Professor of Neurosurgery at the Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine.

Specializing in cerebrovascular and endovascular neurosurgery, his clinical interests include stroke and its surgical treatment, the treatment of idiopathic intracranial hypertension, treatment of brain aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations and fistulas, cavernous malformations, moyamoya disease, carotid stenosis, trigeminal neuralgia, and hemifacial spasm. 

The doctor’s acclaimed career in medicine began after he earned his medical degree from Semmelweis University in Hungary in 2006. He then went on to complete his neurological surgery residency at the Sheba Medical Center in Israel in 2014, and his fellowship in cerebrovascular and endovascular neurosurgery at the Swedish Neuroscience Institute in Seattle in 2017.

He serves as an associate program director for the Geisinger Neurosurgical Residency and Endovascular Fellowship programs. Dr. Goren speaks English and Hebrew.

Practicing medicine in Pennsylvania, his hospital affiliations include Geisinger Community Medical Center, Geisinger Bloomsburg Hospital, Geisinger Jersey Shore Hospital, and Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center.

In addition, he is an active member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons.

Neurosurgery is the medical specialty concerned with the prevention, diagnosis, surgical treatment, and rehabilitation of disorders which affect any portion of the nervous system including the brain, spinal cord, peripheral nerves, and extra-cranial cerebrovascular system. Neurosurgeons are doctors who diagnose and treat problems with the nervous system, often by performing surgery on the brain or spine. They treat strokes, tumors, cervical and lumbar disc disease, infections, and head or spinal cord injuries.

In the past 15 years, Dr. Goren’s clinical research consists of co-authoring 57 peer reviewed articles and participating in multiple national and international clinical trials.
