Growing up in upstate New York, Dr. Cotzas attended New York University where he majored in biology as an undergraduate. He then went on to Columbia University, where he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. From there, he completed a General Practice Residency at New York Hospital Medical Center of Queens, and his post-doctoral training in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics at Montefiore Medical Center.

In order to keep up to date with the latest techniques, technologies, newest information and methods around the country, Dr. Cotzas enjoys attending conferences and participating in continuing education courses for professional development.
