Get to know Gastroenterologist Dr. Stephen J. Rashbaum, who serves patients throughout the State of Georgia.
Dr. Rashbaum is a dual board-certified gastroenterologist who has been in practice in north Metro Atlanta since 2006. He joined Dr. Singh as a partner at Digestive Care Physicians in May of 2011, seeing patients at the offices in Alpharetta, Johns Creek, Cumming, Lawrenceville, and Dawsonville, Georgia.
Specializing in the treatment of a variety of gastrointestinal issues, he provides thorough clinical consultative evaluations and procedures such as colonoscopy, upper endoscopy, esophageal dilation, and capsule endoscopy. He has privileges at Emory Johns Creek Hospital and Northside Hospital Forsyth.
Originally from South Florida, Dr. Rashbaum graduated with his medical degree from the Boston University School of Medicine in 1992. He then completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis in 1995. Subsequently, he completed a fellowship in gastroenterology at University of Florida Health Science Center in Jacksonville, Florida in 1997.
That same year, Dr. Rashbaum actively participated in clinical research on detection of Helicobacter pylori infection in patients with gastric ulcers. This resulted in abstract publication at the national meeting of the American Gastroenterological Association. In 2008, he presented a clinical case-report poster on Tropical Sprue at the national meeting of the American College of Gastroenterology. Additionally, he has participated in other clinical research in the role of a subinvestigator.
In good standing with a number of professional organizations, he is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology, the Medical Association of Georgia, and the Johns Creek Health Association.
A leader in his field, Dr. Rashbaum is board-certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
