Dr. Kolasa, a well-respected nephrologist, has over two decades of experience in his field. He sees patients at his private practice with two offices in Kendall Park and New Brunswick, New Jersey. He also admits patients to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, St. Peter’s University Hospital, and the University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro.

With a patient-oriented approach to his practice, the doctor treats the whole person, not just one organ. He spends as much time as needed to learn about his patients and explain medical topics to them using clear, everyday language. He focuses on giving patients the tools they need to feel comfortable and confident in fighting illness. He also works with some of the best specialists in other fields and ensures his patients are directed to the finest treatment available.

Back in 1983, Dr. Kolasa obtained his medical degree from the Medical University of Lodz in Poland. Upon relocating to the United States, he completed his residency in internal medicine at Saint Peter’s University Hospital, followed by his fellowship in nephrology at the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.

Following his training, he became board-certified in both internal medicine and nephrology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world. 

Alongside his clinical role, Dr. Kolasa serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. He is also a member of several professional organizations, including the American Medical Association, the American Society of Nephrology, and the New Jersey Medical Society, among others. 

Nephrology is a specialty of medicine and pediatrics that concerns itself with the kidneys. It is the study of normal kidney function and kidney disease, the preservation of kidney health, and the treatment of kidney disease, from diet and medication to renal replacement therapy. Nephrologists have advanced training in treating kidney disease. They diagnose and treat kidney failure, as well as help patients by prescribing medications, offering special diet advice, and coordinating dialysis care when the time comes. 

Internal medicine or general internal medicine is the medical specialty dealing with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of internal diseases. Physicians specializing in internal medicine are called internists.

Among his numerous accolades, Dr. Kolasa is the recipient of Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2017, 2018), On-Time Doctor Award (2014, 2015, 2017, 2018), and Patients’ Choice Award (2014, 2015, 2017, 2018).
