Get to know Pediatrician Dr. Sheila G. Pitre, who serves patients in Thibodaux, Louisiana.

A knowledgeable pediatrician, Dr. Pitre is in practice at the Thibodaux Regional Pediatric Clinic.

The team at Thibodaux Regional Pediatric Clinic specializes in the health and wellness of children from birth to age 18. They are specially-trained in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of a broad range of childhood illnesses and conditions.

A 1987 cum laude graduate of Nicholls State University, Dr. Pitre obtained her medical degree from the Louisiana State University School of Medicine in 1992. She completed her internship and residency in pediatrics at the Louisiana State University Medical Center, where she was named Outstanding Pediatric Intensive Care Resident in 1994.

Subsequent to her education, the doctor attained board certification in pediatrics through the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP). The mission of the ABP is to advance child health by certifying pediatricians who meet standards of excellence and are committed to continuous learning and improvement.

Maintaining membership status, she is an active member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, American Medical Association, and the Bayou Pediatric Society. She is a Red Cross Certified Water Safety Instructor, Red Cross Certified in CPR and First Aid, and American Heart Association Certified in Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Life Support, and Neonatal Life Support.

Pediatrics is the branch of medicine that involves the medical care of infants, children, and adolescents. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends individuals be under pediatric care up to the age of 21. Pediatricians provide medical care to people ranging in age from newborns to young adults. They are trained to examine, diagnose, and treat children with a wide variety of injuries and illnesses through all of their developmental stages, as they grow and mature.

Among her various accolades, Dr. Pitre has been the recipient of the Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2015, 2014), and Patients' Choice Award (2015).

Along with her husband, Bob, and daughter Ashly, she enjoys raising, fitting and showing cattle, and fishing.
