A board-certified and fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Klimisch tends to patients at South Texas Bone & Joint in Corpus Christi, Texas. Trained in the latest evidence-based hip and knee surgery techniques, he offers minimally invasive hip and knee replacement surgery utilizing computer navigation which ensures more precise positioning of joint implants. He also offers a wide range of solutions for the treatment of hip and knee disorders, ranging from hip and knee injections to arthroscopy, partial knee replacement, hip resurfacing, and total joint replacement.
In 1972, South Texas Bone & Joint (formerly Orthopedic Associates of Corpus Christi) was established to provide Multi-Specialty, Musculoskeletal Healthcare Services to patients in the immediate and surrounding coastal communities. Celebrating 41 years, the practice continues striving for orthopedic excellence in the practice of medicine, surgery and related services.
Throughout his academic career, Dr. Klimisch earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch, School of Medicine. While in medical school, he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society, Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, and awarded the prestigious George Edward Longshie Scholarship.
After finishing medical school, he remained at UT Medical Branch and completed his internship and residency in orthopedic surgery where he was awarded the Robert K. and Marie B. Hutchings Endowed Scholarship for academic excellence in orthopedic surgery and the Open Growth Plate Award for Pediatric Orthopedic Excellence.
Later, Dr. Klimisch completed an accredited fellowship in adult reconstruction and joint replacement surgery at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. There, he trained in primary, complex- primary and revision hip and knee replacement, hip resurfacing, partial knee replacements, hip and knee arthroscopy, computer-assisted surgery, and minimally-invasive hip and knee surgery.
As a testament of his continued education, the doctor is board-certified in orthopedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS). The ABOS is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopedic residents and surgeons as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopedic surgeons.
To keep current with the new developments and technology in his field, he is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons.
Dedicated to improving the quality of life for patients with hip and knee disorders, Dr. Klimisch’s goal is to help each individual attain their highest level of function. He also serves as a Consulting Surgeon with Smith & Nephew and is involved in the development of new designs, instrumentation, and techniques.
Prior to joining South Texas Bone & Joint, he worked in private practice at the Bone and Joint Center of Seattle, and served as an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Washington Department of Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine.
