Board-certified general surgeon, Dr. Draughn, is currently serving patients at his private practice, Vein Specialists of the Carolinas, located in Gastonia and Charlotte, North Carolina. He had performed general, laparoscopic, vascular, and thoracic surgery in private practice since 1993. In 2006, he focused his practice exclusively on venous disorders.
Dr. Draughn is a registered vascular technologist and a registered physician in vascular interpretation. He is a leader in the field, has led multiple studies in vein research, and has been published in peer-reviewed medical journals.
His academic career began when he earned his medical degree from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in Jackson, Mississippi in 1987. He then went on to complete his surgical internship at the University of Kentucky. Followed by his surgical residency training at Louisiana State University (LSU) from 1988 to 1993.
