Get to know Pediatrician Dr. Philip D. Floyd, who serves patients in South Miami, Florida.
Desiring to create a unique pediatric care environment, Dr. Floyd founded Sunset Pediatrics in 2008. Specializing in early disease detection, expertise in complicated diagnoses, and the treatment of complex pediatric conditions, he has patients that travel from both near and far to see him.
Sunset Pediatrics in South Miami, Florida is a concierge-model practice where patient care, personal relationships, access to care, and attention to detail are the hallmarks. The practice focuses on every aspect of childhood and adolescent growth and development –including wellness, social and educational needs, adolescent concerns, and children with complex medical/developmental conditions.
Among his other clinical and academic appointments, Dr. Floyd is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the FIU Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine, a Clinical Preceptor at NOVA Southeastern University College of Healthcare Sciences, a Volunteer Clinical Faculty member and Clinical Preceptor at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, and the Medical Consultant for the Miami-Dade County Public Schools.
Completing his undergraduate education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Dr. Floyd was a Morehead Scholar and graduated with distinction. He returned to his hometown, attending Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. He then completed his residency at Miami Children’s Hospital (now known as Nicklaus Children’s).
A Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (FAAP), he is board-certified in pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP). The mission of the ABP is to advance child health by certifying pediatricians who meet standards of excellence and are committed to continuous learning and improvement.
In his professional experience, Dr. Floyd serves as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of St. Philip’s Episcopal School, as a member of the Board of Trustees of Westminster Christian School, and as a member of the Pediatric/Child Health Committee at South Miami Hospital. He makes regular television appearances, speaking on a variety of pediatric topics, and is also a speaker to many local church and civic groups.
In the state of Florida, he is affiliated with Baptist Hospital of Miami, Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, Baptist Health South Miami Hospital, and Mercy Hospital Miami.
