Her training continued at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where she completed her internship, residency, and chief residency in internal medicine. She also dedicated an additional year to specialized training in metabolism and diabetes at UCLA, conducting research on adipocyte stem cells and hormonal functions.
In pursuit of clinical excellence, the doctor is board-certified in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world. She has also attained board certification in obesity medicine through the American Board of Obesity Medicine (ABOM).
Following her training, Dr. Tyer spent seven years on the east coast, where she gained invaluable experience. She practiced internal medicine at the prestigious Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, providing care to highly complex patients. Additionally, she worked in a clinical setting at Cornell Medical Center, combining her clinical expertise with her passion for teaching.
As an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at Cornell Medical School, she taught numerous medical school classes on topics such as the doctor-patient relationship and problem-based learning. She also spearheaded resident rotations at the MSKCC Urgent Care Center, further contributing to the education and development of medical professionals. Her outstanding achievements led to her recruitment by Yale New Haven Health, where she served as the Assistant Program Director for the Yale New Haven Health Internal Medicine Residency at Greenwich Hospital in Connecticut.
In 2019, Dr. Tyer made the decision to return to her roots in sunny Los Angeles. Currently, she offers a wide range of services, including primary care, internal medicine, pre-operative evaluations, weight management consultations, and concierge care. Her expertise and dedication have been recognized through numerous awards for research, teaching, and clinical care.
