Dr. Brito is an accomplished OB-GYN specialist having vast medical experience spanning over 20 years. She looks after the community of Harlem, New York and is available for exams and consultations at NYC Health+Hospitals/Harlem.
NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem provides a wide range of medical, surgical, diagnostic, therapeutic, and family support services to the residents of Central Harlem, West Harlem, Washington Heights, and Inwood. The hospital is a 272-bed acute care facility and a designated Level 1 Trauma Center, with a full spectrum of specialty services, including a burn unit, an adult intensive care unit, a neonatal intensive care unit, a pediatric intensive care unit, and a cardiac care unit.
Providing comprehensive medical care to women of all ages while empowering and encouraging personal growth in each of her patients, Dr. Brito has special interests in the management of abnormal pap smears, abnormal menses, ultrasound evaluation of pelvic pathology, and high-risk pregnancies. She takes pride in the high rate of vaginal deliveries she is able to achieve by allowing nature to take its course.
As a woman, mother and wife, she has developed a great awareness for the impact of women’s health in society. She believes the most rewarding aspect of her job is to have the opportunity to bring comfort, encouragement, and hope to another human being.
Back in the early days of her academic career, Dr. Brito earned her medical degree from Universidad Central del Ecuador Facultad de Ciencias Médicas in Ecuador in 1994. Subsequently, she moved to the United States, where she completed her residencies in internal medicine and obstetrics and gynecology, both at New York University, Bellevue Hospital Center.
Prior to her work at NYC Health+Hospitals/Harlem, she was affiliated with Stamford Health Medical Group, Northeast Medical Group, Grinnell Regional Medical Center, and NYU Langone Medical Center.
A Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (FACOG), the doctor is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG). The mission of the ABOG is to define specialty standards, certify obstetricians and gynecologists, and facilitate continuous learning to advance knowledge, practice, and professionalism in women’s health.
On a professional level, Dr. Brito is an active member of several medical societies, including the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine, the American Medical Association, the International Academy of Pelvic Surgery, and the Bellevue Obstetrical and Gynecological Society.
