Get to know Family Physician Dr. William Grabenstein, who serves patients in Clarksville, Tennessee.

Dr. Grabenstein provides his patients with fully personalized and attentive care. A board-certified family physician, his MDVIP-affiliated practice is open to patients in Clarksville and the surrounding area.

Licensed to practice medicine in Tennessee, Dr. Grabenstein is affiliated with Gateway Medical Center and Saint Thomas West Hospital.

Among his academic appointments, he serves as a Preceptor at the University of Tennessee (1989-present) and at Meharry Medical University (1989-present).

Graduating with his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Rhodes College in 1981, Dr. Grabenstein earned his medical degree from the University of Tennessee Center for Health Sciences. He then went on to complete his internship and residency in family medicine at North Carolina Baptist Hospital, where he received the Intern of the Year Award in 1986, and was Chief Resident in 1988.

As a testament of his continued education, he is board-certified in family medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM). The ABFM is a non-profit, independent medical association of American physicians who practice in family medicine and its sub-specialties.

A Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians, Dr. Grabenstein is a member of the National Board of Medical Examiners.

Family medicine is a medical specialty devoted to comprehensive health care for people of all ages. The specialist is called a family physician or family doctor. A family physician is often the first person a patient sees when seeking healthcare services. They examine and treat patients with a wide range of conditions and refer those with serious ailments to a specialist or appropriate facility.

Among his most notable achievements, Dr. Grabenstein has been the recipient of the Patients’ Choice Award (2011, 2012), Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2011), and Reader’s Choice Award for Favorite Doctor by Clarksville Leaf Chronicle (2011).
