Get to know Physiatrist Dr. Harnoor S. Tokhie, who serves patients in East Lansing, Michigan.

A board-certified physiatrist, Dr. Tokhie is currently in practice with Michigan State University (MSU) HealthTeam in East Lansing, Michigan. MSU HealthTeam is the multi-specialty medical practice of Michigan State University, with approximately 260 physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants. The providers are university researchers and academic professors, spanning 25 adult and pediatric specialties, with a commitment to education and improvement in the quality of life.

In regards to his hospital and facility appointments, Dr. Tokhie is affiliated with Sparrow Hospital, Sparrow Specialty Hospital, and McLaren Greater Lansing. He also serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at MSU in East Lansing. The nation’s pioneer land-grant university, MSU is one of the top research universities in the world. After earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor in 2005, Dr. Tokhie went on to earn his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in East Lansing in 2011. After completing an osteopathic internship at Botsford Hospital in Farmington Hills, Michigan, he finished his residency at Schwab Rehabilitation Hospital in Chicago, Illinois in 2015. 

Shortly after, he became board-certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (ABPMR). The ABPMR was established in 1947 as the certifying body for the field of physical medicine and rehabilitation under the American Board of Medical Specialties. The Board certifies both allopathic and osteopathic physicians. 

Physical medicine and rehabilitation, also known as physiatry and physiatrics, is a branch of medicine that aims to enhance and restore functional ability and quality of life to those with physical impairments or disabilities. Physiatrists treat a wide variety of medical conditions affecting the brain, spinal cord, nerves, bones, joints, ligaments, muscles, and tendons.
