Get to know Orthodontist Dr. Shamik Desai, who serves the population of Connecticut. Dr. Desai completed his undergraduate degree from Villanova University where he received his Bachelors of Arts in Economics, graduating in 2008. He then completed his Doctor of Dental Medicine Degree from Harvard University in 2012, giving him seven years of experience in his field. Wanting to further his education he went on to receive his Masters of Science and completing an Orthodontics Residency Program with Columbia University College of Dental Medicine. Dr. Desai currently practices with Brace-Asaurus. Orthodontists priority is the straightening of teeth. An orthodontist diagnoses overbites, occlusions, misaligned teeth and jaws, and overcrowded mouths. After the diagnosis, the orthodontist tries to solve any issues they discover. If left untreated, overbites, underbites, open bites, and cross bites are all problems that will grow worse over time. An orthodontist is an expert who repairs these conditions. When Dr. Desai is not working, he enjoys snowboarding, CrossFit, and traveling.
