Get to know neurosurgeon Dr. Adam I. Lewis, who serves patients in Corpus Christi, Texas. 

A prominent neurosurgeon, Dr. Lewis works with patients at South Texas Brain and Spine Center in Corpus Christi, Texas. 

Before embarking on his professional journey, he graduated from Harvard University with a BA in Biology. Dr. Lewis received a medical degree from the Georgetown University School of Medicine. He completed an internship and residency in neurosurgery at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. Dr. Lewis served as Chief Resident in Neurosurgery.

As a testament of his continued education, Dr. Lewis is board-certified in neurosurgery by the American Board of Neurological Surgery (ABNS). The broad aim of the ABNS is to encourage the study, improve the practice, elevate the standards and advance the science of neurological surgery and thereby serve the cause of public health.

Professionally, Dr. Lewis is an active member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, and the American Medical Association.

Neurosurgery is the medical specialty concerned with the diagnosis, surgical treatment, and rehabilitation of disorders which affect the nervous system including the brain, spinal cord, peripheral nerves, and spine. Neurosurgeons are doctors who diagnose and treat problems with the nervous system, often by performing surgery on the brain or spine. They treat strokes, tumors, blood vessel malformations, face pain and cervical and lumbar disc disease. Neurosurgeons also treat traumatic injuries of the brain and spinal cord.

On a more personal note, Dr. Lewis attributes his success to his focus and determination. In his free time, he enjoys bicycling, cooking, designing medical devices, missionary work, and teaching surgical techniques to surgeons throughout the United States and internationally.
