Fluent in both English and Greek, Dr. Papas is an established psychiatrist who has been practicing for over five decades. His clinical interests include depression, anxiety and panic, psychopharmacology, psychotherapy, interpersonal conflict, marital conflict, family health, bipolar disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and work-related illnesses. He has been in private practice in Boston, Massachusetts since 1969.
In 2006, his practice had grown to the point that he decided to devote himself to it, full-time. He works with patients who have a variety of disorders with psychotherapy and the judicious use of medications when indicated. Simultaneously, he serves as an Assistant in Psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital, seeing patients, supervising residents, and teaching medical students.

Prior to his current endeavours, he served as Clinical Director of Metropolitan State Hospital (March 1973 – June 1978), Attending / Inpatient Psychiatrist at Emerson Hospital (June 1978 – January 1985), and Attending Psychiatrist at Westwood Lodge Hospital (February 1985 – June 2004).
A 1963 graduate of the Tufts University School of Medicine, Dr. Papas went on to complete his internship at Boston University Medical Center. This was followed by a residency in psychiatry at UCSF Langley Porter Psychiatric Institute in San Francisco, California in 1964. He joined the staff of Massachusetts General Hospital in 1969 upon completion of his military service obligation.
Dedicated to excellence, the doctor is board-certified in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). The ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to promoting high quality patient care for the public through the initial and continuing certification of psychiatrists and neurologists.
