How can I treat dust allergy in my daughter?
The best way to manage dust allergy is to get all the dust catchers out of her bedroom. Eliminate carpet and if you have area rugs they should be regularly washed in hot water. Limit her to one stuffed animal that can be washed in hot water. Get mattress and pillow covers that contain dust in the mattress and the pillow. She spends most of her time in the house in the bedroom so controlling dust in there is key. READ MORE

How do you treat severe seasonal allergies in children?
If you have identified the season or seasons in which she suffers you should start her on a nasal steroid spray every night 7 to 10 days before her symptoms typically start. This will decrease nasal and eye symptoms. In my area trees bloom end of February and beginning of March. For spring allergy sufferers I recommend they start their nasal spray on Valentines Day each year and continue through memorial day. Ragweed starts in late July so for fall allergy sufferers I ask them to start their nasal spray on July 4 and continue through the first frost. READ MORE

It depends on the age of the child and the severity of the symptoms. The best treatment for anxiety is therapy. The medications that are prescribed for anxiety in children are in the SSRI family like fluoxetine and sertraline. We often treat panic attacks with hydroxyzine. Consult your pediatrician or look for a pediatrician who will work with you to help your child. READ MORE
