Get to know Internist Dr. Thusitha R. Dissanayake, who serves patients in Apex, North Carolina.

With experience in hospital medicine and primary care, Dr. Dissanayake is a board-certified internist with TDMD Primary Care in Аpex, North Carolina. He enjoys helping his patients to achieve a healthy and happy lifestyle, and is passionate about making a positive change.

In Wake County and surrounding communities, TDMD Primary care is committed to helping patients with everyday health concerns and offers a wide range of primary care services. In order to best serve each patient, Dr. Dissanayake will see patients from 18 years of age & older by appointment and will also offer same-day appointments if needed. 

He will provide all the acute and chronic medical illnesses with a touch of Body & Mind therapy. He will also provide minor surgical procedures such as incision & drainage of abscesses, skin tag removal, minor suturing & suture removal, as well as will help in fighting obesity with success.

Educated in Sri Lanka, Dr. Dissanayake graduated with his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degree from North Colombo Medical College/Medical Faculty of Kelaniya University in 1995. He then relocated to the United States, performing his residency in internal medicine at Eastern Tennessee State University, James H. Quillen College of Medicine and VA Mountain Home in Johnson City, Tennessee. 

Dedicated to excellence, the doctor is board-certified in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

With over three decades of medical experience, Dr. Dissanayake has worked in different clinical facilities in different parts of in & outside of the United States of America.

In North Carolina, he is affiliated with Cape Fear Valley Medical Center and UNC Health Southeastern.

Internal medicine is the medical specialty dealing with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of adult diseases. Physicians specializing in internal medicine are called internists. They manage and prevent common and complex diseases by providing comprehensive care and promoting overall well-being.

Outside of practicing medicine, Dr. Dissanayake enjoys composing musical lyrics, writing poetry, singing, reading translations, meditating, playing badminton & cricket, swimming, nature photography, and spending time with his family. He is fluent in both English and Sinhalese.
