I have several bulging discs in my spine. Should I be treated by a chiropractor or have surgery?
Surgery always results in scar tissue. this causes further immobiilty, and you will need continual surgeries about every 5-7 years, because the other joints will work harder to compensate. So make sure your gluts and hips are stretched, as that is half the back motion. This will lessen the stress on the discs. Inversion tables will be helpful as well. What is causing my random back pain?
Only motion X-rays, or views in extension and flexion can answer this. Even if you have a disc problem, as most people do, this is NOT the most common cause. Also, run an ANA arthritis profile. READ MORE
Do chiropractic adjustments help with chronic lower back pain?
Like many other modern medical practices, the chiropractic profession emphasizes the use of evidence-based methods that have been shown to be safe and effective. With satisfaction rating higher than medical treatment. An article in the journal *Physical Therapy* is instructive. "Many interventions used by physical therapists in the management of patients with low back pain (LBP) lack evidence supporting their effectiveness. For example, interventions such as thermal modalities, electrical stimulation, and biofeedback have not been studied sufficiently, whereas interventions such as transcutaneous nerve stimulation, mechanical traction, and ultrasound have been studied and found to be ineffective... *Spinal manipulation is one intervention for LBP that is supported by evidence."* READ MORE
I am having pain in my calf muscles. What is the treatment recommended to get relief?
Often, Adrenal mineral corticoid deficiency. Increasing either iron, magnesium, or potassium helps. Blood tests for those minerals and a 4x-a-day salivary cortisol level available. Less likely is sciatica or pyriformis syndrome. Dr. John Jung, DC, FIAMA READ MORE
