Specializing in performing total body skin examinations to evaluate moles and to screen for skin cancer, Dr. Berkman provides surgical expertise for skin cancer and mole removal. She also provides dermatologic care to infants, children, and adolescents. She treats a full spectrum of childhood dermatologic conditions, from eczema to acne, in a comfortable and nurturing environment.
With years of experience in the field of dermatology, the doctor also offers a full range of the most up to date and minimally invasive cosmetic procedures, including Botox, Juvederm, laser resurfacing, laser treatments for redness and dark spots, and chemical peels. Her philosophy is that her patients should look natural and refreshed, and never as if they have had work done.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Dr. Berkman attended The John Thomas Dye School and Harvard-Westlake, she then transferred and graduated summa cum laude from Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts. She then went on to graduate with her medical degree from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. Upon graduation, she completed her residency in dermatology at Georgetown University Hospital and Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C., where she served as Chief Resident. This was followed by a fellowship in melanoma research at the Washington Cancer Institute.
To this day, Dr. Berkman maintains the highest levels of accreditation and pursues ongoing education to stay abreast of the latest trends in medicine and dermatology. Aside from being a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, she is a member of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery and the Society for Pediatric Dermatology. Furthermore, she is board-certified in dermatology through the American Board of Dermatology, one of the 24 medical specialty boards that make up the American Board of Medical Specialties.
