Get to know OB-GYN & Gynecologist Dr. Sujatha Vivek, who serves patients in Johns Creek, Georgia.
Dr. Vivek is a board certified Obstetrician and Gynecologist practices in the Johns Creek/Alpharetta area. She was born and raised in Chennai, India and completed her medical school and internship at Madras Medical College one of the oldest and most prestigious medical schools in India. Following her MBBS, she moved to the United Kingdom and started her training in Obstetrics and Gynecology. She trained at busy units such as the Liverpool Women’s Hospital and Wigan & Leigh NHS trusts.
During her training in the United Kingdom, she acquired not only competency in general obstetrics and gynecology but also specialized training in laparoscopic surgery as well as urogynecology. She conducted research in urogynecology and this was the basis of her postgraduate thesis for the MRCOG ( The Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists, London, UK).
Dr. Vivek was conferred her MRCOG board certification and following this, continued to work at a senior level post with responsibilities for training junior doctors and senior house officers. She then moved to the United States and completed her Residency in obstetrics and gynecology, starting out in New York, where she received the” Best Teaching Resident” award. Dr Vivek then moved to Michigan to be with her family and complete her residency at Wayne State University.
As with her previous placements, she excelled in her work here too and was awarded the Teshima award for Gynecology Oncology at her graduation. Following her residency, Dr. Vivek moved to Georgia to open her practice in Alpharetta. She has practiced for several years in the Alpharetta, Johns Creek and Roswell areas and has a large patient following.
Dr. Vivek has held leadership positions over the past years and currently serves as Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Emory Johns Creek Hospital. She currently also holds privileges at North Fulton Hospital and practices out of two convenient locations.
