A Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Dr. Ziccardi is a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon whose interests include trigeminal nerve injuries, cleft lip and palate deformities, and reconstructive surgeries. In addition to his affiliation with University Hospital, he is a part of the team at Rutgers Health University Dental Associates in New Brunswick, New Jersey.

Alongside his clinical role, Dr. Ziccardi serves as Professor, Department Chairman, Associate Dean for Hospital Affairs, Chief of Service for University Hospital, and Program Director of the Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Residency Training Program at the Rutgers School of Dental Medicine (RSDM). “Our mission is to provide full-scope oral and maxillofacial surgical care to New Jersey residents and to provide education for predoctoral and postdoctoral students at RSDM. The department maintains a nationally recognized oral and maxillofacial residency program and is an integral part of University Hospital’s Level 1 trauma center. It has a large and dynamic faculty, both full and part-time, who teach and pursue scholarly activity to advance our specialty. The department is also an integral part of RSDM’s faculty practice, Rutgers Health University Dental Associates.” as stated on their website.
Pertaining to his academic career, Dr. Ziccardi earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from New York University in 1985, followed by his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the Columbia University College of Dental Medicine in 1989. Thereafter, he went on to obtain his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in 1993.
It was during this time, working with faculty in both the oral and maxillofacial surgery and neurosurgery departments, that he gained interest and experience. The following year, he completed his internship at the same educational venue, before going on to complete his residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine in 1995.
Among this dentists/physicians various achievements, he is board-certified through the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, whose mission is to assure the public of safe and optimal care through the development and maintenance of high standards of certification and recertification of Diplomates in the specialty.
