Get to know Obstetrician-Gynecologist Dr. Hatem Hatem, who serves patients in San Antonio, Texas.

An established obstetrician-gynecologist, Dr. Hatem is in practice at Acacia OB/GYN in San Antonio, Texas. He has a true passion for caring for women and being there for them at every stage of life. His goal is to provide his patients with the best medical care they can receive and to improve the overall patient experience. He specializes in minimally invasive procedures and robotic surgeries. 

The board-certified/board-eligible obstetricians, gynecologists and midwives at Acacia OB/GYN bring decades of combined experience and a passion for building trusted relationships with the women who rely on us for care. Their goal is not simply to provide the best quality of care possible during each patient encounter, but the best overall health care experience that will endure over the course of a woman’s life.

Before embarking on his professional journey, Dr. Hatem received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Florida International University and received his medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine. He completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the Atlantic Health System and at the Newark Beth Israel Medical Center in New Jersey.

During his time in medical school, Dr. Hatem received the award for Resident of the Year in 2010 and in 2011, as well as being named the Administrative Chief Resident from 2012-2013. He also received the Chairman’s Acknowledgement award in 2010, the Clinical Excellence Award in Gynecological Surgery in 2013, and the Consultant of the Year by Bluewater Emergency Partner.

Distinguished as a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the doctor is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG). The mission of the ABOG is to define specialty standards, certify obstetricians and gynecologists, and facilitate continuous learning to advance knowledge, practice, and professionalism in women’s health.

Obstetrics and gynecology (OB-GYN) is the medical specialty that encompasses the two subspecialties of obstetrics (covering pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period) and gynecology (covering the health of the female reproductive system – vagina, uterus, ovaries, and breasts).

In his free time, Dr. Hatem enjoys traveling with his family, going to church, and watching a variety of sports games.
