  • Are colored lenses bad for the eyes?

Contact lenses are not bad for your eyes including colored contact lenses. As long as they are not abused, for example not worn too long during the day, not used more than a month if they are monthly lenses and properly stored and cleaned using only a multipurpose contact lens solution. You want to make sure you visit your eye care provider for proper fitting and to discuss your options for best wear schedule (daily or monthly) and to make sure your prescription will allow for an option of colored contact lens. Remember all contact lenses are considered to be a medical devise that comes in direct contact with your eye, thus it is very important to have your contacts and your eye health properly evaluated annually. • My son has been having a yellowish discharge from his eyes. What could this be?

Hello, Most likely it is a viral conjunctivitis, which is contagious in nature. For now, please have him start using preservative free artificial tears as often as every 2 to 4 hours. Also, have him avoid sharing towels, pillow, wash hands often, etc., to avoid infecting others in the household. If worsens, he will need antibiotic eye drops. Best regards, Dr. Pinkhasova READ MORE
