Bless your heart, this is an EASY one. The kidneys are very happy to absorb antibiotics, and as long as there is no additional problem (like a kidney stone) you should be much better in a couple of days. Most patients need only oral antibiotics; we hospitalize only those who have complications or who get too nauseated to keep down pills. READ MORE
How can my daughter treat hives?
Antihistamines will take the edge off. Benadryl (diphenhydramine) is the strongest as long as she doesn't mind sleeping all day; the nonsedating antihistamines (Claritin, Zyrtec etc--the pharmacist can help) are less effective. If she is pregnant or nursing she needs to avoid all of these and just rub some nonprescription on the hives as they appear. This usually lasts only 3 days or so; she has my literal sympathy since I had this when I was nursing. READ MORE

How can I strengthen my heart?
At age 40 this may be due to a virus from which the heart can recover. Even if not, whatever exercise you can do will probably help. After all, athletes don't start out with large, well-muscled hearts but develop them by exercise. Give it a try. READ MORE

Why do I have constant gas?
Before you go to a doctor, try eliminating the following from your diet: Peas and beans (though green beans are probably OK), nuts, especially peanuts, onion & garlic, milk products, members of the cabbage family including broccoli and cauliflower. I recommend you start by going lactose-free for a couple of weeks, then try using Lactaid products (which don't have lactose and are a tiny bit sweeter). READ MORE

No. And infertility workup requires a number of questions followed by lab tests, and I doubt the doctor will even ASK about any overdose. Let me point out that the wannabe father needs to be tested too, since 50% of infertility is due to the man. READ MORE
