Graduating with his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, Dr. Dickerson went on to perform his internship at John Peter Hospital in Fort Worth from 1971 to 1972 and his residency in radiology at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas from 1977-1980.

From 1972 to 1975, Dr. Dickerson served as a Medical Officer in the United States Army. He was stationed in West Germany, where he served the troops and families of the First Brigade, First Armored Division. Dr. Dickerson attained the rank of Major during his time in the service.

As a testament of his continued education, the doctor has been recognized as a Diplomate of the American Board of Radiology (ABR). The ABR is a not-for-profit physician-led organization that oversees the certification and ongoing professional development of specialists in diagnostic radiology, interventional radiology, radiation oncology, and medical physics.

Diagnostic radiology is a medical specialization that involves undertaking a range of imaging procedures to obtain images of the inside of the body. The diagnostic radiologist then carefully interprets these images to diagnose illness and injury.
