Get to know Family Physician Dr. Jose Michael Castel, who served patients in Pennsylvania.

Dr. Castel, a retired family physician, resides in Fort Washington, Pennsylvania. 

During his active years in medicine, he practiced in Abington, Pennsylvania, specializing in comprehensive healthcare for individuals of all ages. In addition to diagnosing and treating illnesses, he emphasized preventative care through routine checkups, tests, and personalized coaching on maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

With a diverse educational background, Dr. Castel earned his Medical Degree from the Faculty of Medical Sciences at the University of The West Indies in Jamaica in 1972. He then relocated to the United States, completing his internship and residency in family medicine at Deaconess Hospital in 1973 and 1974, respectively.

Subsequent to his training, the doctor attained board certification in family medicine through the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM). The ABFM is a non-profit, independent medical association of American physicians who practice in family medicine and its sub-specialties.

Family medicine is a medical specialty devoted to comprehensive health care for people of all ages. The specialist is called a family physician or family doctor. A family physician is often the first person a patient sees when seeking healthcare services. They examine and treat patients with a wide range of conditions and refer those with serious ailments to a specialist or appropriate facility.
