Allergy, Asthma & Sinus Center of New Jersey is the leading asthma and allergy center in Hunterdon County and surrounding regions. The practice has long treated asthma, hay fever, rashes, contact dermatitis, hives, sinus problems, food and cosmetic allergies, eczema, and migraine headaches. Educated in the United States, Dr. Schulhafer completed his undergraduate education at Rutgers University, and earned his medical degree from the Rutgers New Jersey Medical School in 1983. He then went on to further his training by completing a residency in internal medicine at Overlook Hospital in 1986, and a fellowship in allergy & immunology at the Long Island College Hospital in 1988.
Following his training, the doctor attained board certification in allergy & immunology through the American Board of Allergy and Immunology (ABAI). The mission of the ABAI is to improve the quality of medical care by the development and utilization of professional and educational standards for the initial certification and maintenance of certification of physician specialists in allergy and immunology.
To boot, he is board-certified in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
Allergy and immunology involve the management of disorders related to the immune system. These conditions range from the very common to the very rare, spanning all ages and encompassing various organ systems. An allergist / immunologist is a physician specially trained to diagnose, treat, and manage allergies, asthma, and immunologic disorders, including primary immunodeficiency disorders.
