What causes pain in the shoulder and down the arm?
There multiple origins for this type of pain. It can be a problem in the shoulder itself or could come from the cervical spine. What is the best treatment for shoulder impingement?
This is going to sound very odd but for shoulder impingement syndrome we check the patient's foot mechanics manually and with a digital foot scan. When the arches reduce their height the head and neck must move forward for balance. This reduces the amount of space for the head of the humerus in the shoulder to move on the shoulder articulation. We check for other things also; shoulder mechanics and joint movement, tendonitis, bursitis, etc. If this is caught soon enough surgery can be avoided and the outcomes are very good. READ MORE
What do chiropractors do to treat back pain?
It all depends on what is found on exam and what is the history of the complaint. Serious causes such as fracture, dislocation or other systemic disease must be ruled. Examination methods may range from xrays, MRI, manual orthopedic testing, palpation of the involved area. At our clinic we also utilize a computerized digital foot scanner to look for imbalances that may cause back pain. In office treat may involve chiropractic manipulation of the spine and extremities, doctor assisted stretching and physical therapy. Home care may include using heat and or ice, stretching and over the counter pain meds. Of course, all of this depends on what is found during the examination. READ MORE
Spinal stenosis?
Re: Spinal stenosis. As a chiropractor for conditions like yours we would perform a digital foot scan with the intent of balancing your body from the ground up. For chronic pain like yours we utilize Alpha-Stim microcurrent electrical therapy. In my opinion this works better than anything else for chronic pain. It is also FDA cleared for not only pain but also insomnia, anxiety and depression. More info available at alpha-stim.com and drmcirvin.com Good luck! READ MORE

Are adjustments dangerous for kids?
Chiropractic adjustments have the same level of risk and complication for children as for adults. Chiropractic adjustments are statistically much safer than most medical procedures. If a chiropractor has any question about whether adjustments are safe for a child, it may be necessary to rule out complications by referral to a specialty doctor. However, this is rare and adjustments are safe for the vast majority of children. READ MORE

How do you treat a pulled neck muscle?
it will depend on what exactly the problem is and where it is. Sometimes we use a muscular technique, sometimes we only administer a chiropractic adjustment. I find that sometimes the actual problem is in the shoulder and that needs to be treated. A good place to start at home is with ice applied to the affected area 15min/hr. That can give some quick relief. Call your chiropractor if you are still having trouble after that. READ MORE
