Winchester, Virginia  – Valley Health Winchester Medical Center proudly announces the achievements of Sonya C. Seccurro, MD, a board-certified emergency physician who has dedicated over 14 years of her career to providing exceptional nocturnal emergency medical care. With her extensive experience and unwavering commitment to patient care, Dr. Seccurro has become a valued member of the Winchester Medical Center team, contributing to its reputation as an award-winning, 495-bed regional referral facility.

Dr. Seccurro’s impressive academic journey began with her Bachelor of Science Degree in Neurophysiology from the University of Maryland, College Park, in 2000. She furthered her education with a Master of Science Degree in Emergency Health Services/Epidemiology from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, in 2003. Her dedication to medicine culminated in her graduation from Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine with a Medical Degree in 2007. Dr. Seccurro completed her residency in emergency medicine at the prestigious Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (Morningside/West) from 2007 to 2010.

As a Diplomate of the American Board of Emergency Medicine and an active member of the American College of Emergency Physicians, Dr. Seccurro remains at the forefront of developments in her field. Her commitment to excellence has been recognized through various prestigious awards and scholarships throughout her career, including the Fire Chief Frank G. Leser Memorial Scholarship and the SAEM Excellence in Emergency Medicine Medical Student Award.

In 2023, Dr. Seccurro was honored as the Physician of the Year by War Memorial Hospital, a testament to her dedication and impact in emergency medicine.
