A well-educated urologist, Dr. Naughton is in practice with Urology Specialists of St. Luke’s, LLC. She is on staff at St. Luke’s Des Peres Hospital in St. Louis & St. Luke’s Hospital in Chesterfield.
Specializing in all the treatment options of male erectile dysfunction, she has received specialized training in minimally invasive penile implant surgery. She also evaluates and treats the female partner to optimize sexual health for the couple.
Prior to her current endeavours, Dr. Naughton served as an Assistant Professor of Urologic Surgery & as Director of Male Infertility and Microsurgery within the Department of Surgery, Division of Urologic Surgery at the Washington University School of Medicine from 7/1/2001 – 8/31/2006. She then served as Director of the Center for Sexual Health at Metropolitan Urological Specialists, P.C. from 9/1/2006 – 6/30/2020. She joined Urology Specialist of St. Luke’s on 7/1/2020.
She has one the largest experiences in Missouri with neuromodulation therapy including Interstim® and Axonics® nerve treatment for overactive bladder. She offers other advanced treatment options for overactive bladder including Botox injections and Percutaneous Tibial Nerve Stimulation (PTNS) in addition to physical therapy and medical management. She also has specialized training with the Urolift System, a minimally invasive procedure for enlarged prostate (BPH).
Dr. Naughton obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Life Sciences from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1988. She then graduated Magna Cum Laude with her medical degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1993.
Furthering her training, she performed her internship and residency in general surgery, and completed her residency in urology at the Washington University School of Medicine in 1999. She then completed a research fellowship of The American Foundation for Urologic Disease at Washington University School of Medicine in 2000, and a subsequent clinical fellowship in male infertility and microsurgery at the Glickman Urological Institute at The Cleveland Clinic Foundation in 2001.
Licensed to practice medicine in Missouri and Illinois, Dr. Naughton is board-certified in urology by the American Board of Urology (ABU). The mission of the ABU is to act for the benefit of the public by establishing and maintaining standards of certification for urologists, and working with certified urologists to achieve lifelong learning to ensure the delivery of high quality, safe, and ethical urologic care.
Dr. Naughton is a member of the American Urological Association, the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, the Society for the Study of Male Reproduction, and the Society of Women in Urology (serving as President; 5/2006). Dr. Naugton was inducted a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) in 2015.
Throughout her career, she has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, including Human Reproduction, the Journal of Endourology, the Journal of Andrology, the Journal of Urology, Urology, and Urologia Intemationalis. In 2008 and 2010, she served on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Andrology and the Journal of Endourology.
Among her citations and consultations, Dr. Naughton serves as a Consultant for Astellas Pharmaceuticals: Vesicare, Myrbetriq (2010 – present), Consultant for Seraphim Life Sciences: Medical Advisor/Consultant for Vasogel (2011), Consultant for St. Louis Women’s Surgery Center Incontinence Institute (2013), and as a Best Doctors Expert Consultant reviewing submitted cases and providing recommendations (2014).
