Established in 2012, Community Behavioral Health’s outpatient mental health programs serve the mental health needs for adults, children, adolescents, geriatrics, and families. The vision of the practice is to be the most innovative in terms of delivery of care and to provide the highest standard of patient care and to continually challenge both themselves and their patients to change for the better.

Dr. Sushma N. Jani, MD
A trusted child and adolescent psychiatrist & pediatrician, Dr. Sushma Jani is the Medical Director of Community Behavioral Health. She specializes in the treatment of patients with conditions such as anxiety and mood disorders, ADD/ADHD, PTSD, and more.
As for her academic appointment, she serves as an Associate Clinical Professor at the University of Maryland School of Medicine.
An Indian native, Dr. Jani earned her medical degree from the B.J. Medical College of Ahmedabad in 1983. After relocating to the United States, she completed her residency in psychiatry at Indiana University and her fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at Johns Hopkins University. She then went on to complete an additional residency in pediatrics at the University of Maryland.
A Diplomate of the American College of Forensic Medicine, she is board-certified in psychiatry & child and adolescent psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). The ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to serving the professions of psychiatry and neurology.
A Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, Dr. Jani is board-certified in pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP). The mission of the ABP is to advance child health by certifying pediatricians who meet standards of excellence and are committed to continuous learning and improvement.
Furthermore, she is board-certified in addiction medicine by the American Board of Addiction Medicine, and is a certified medical review officer.
As a testament to her success, Dr. Jani has been the recipient of the Exceptional Women in Medicine Award in 2019 and 2020, and Top Doctor Award by Castle Connolly in 2012.
