A well regarded professional since 1982, Dr. Dunn has established himself as a trusted name in the field of dentistry. Practicing in Elmira, New York since 1988, he is the owner of Chemung Family Dental. 

He feels it is important for patients to know that the dental practice is a team of compassionate dental professionals committed to providing exceptional care and service, as well as a phenomenal “wow” experience in a unique and relaxing setting. They aim to develop a care plan that is specific to each patient’s dental goals and one that allows them to achieve a lifetime of quality dentistry and a healthy smile.

While pursuing his educational endeavors, Dr. Dunn received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Franklin & Marshall College in 1976 and his Master of Science degree from Roswell Park Memorial Institute in Head and Neck Cancer in 1977. In 1980, he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the New York University College of Dentistry. 

Thereafter, he served as a Commissioned Officer in the United States Public Health Service from 1980 until 1982. Most recently, he completed a year-long fellowship in medical competency for the treatment of temporomandibular disorders and sleep dentistry.

In addition to honors bestowed upon him, Dr. Dunn is a Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine, which is an independent, self-designated, non-profit testing organization of dentists who treat snoring and obstructive sleep apnea with oral appliance therapy. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Dentists, as well as a member of the American Dental Association, the New York State Dental Association, the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, the American Thoracic Society, the Academy of General Dentistry, the Academy of Osseointegration, the Academy of Digital and Computerized Dentistry, and the Pierre Fauchard Academy. 

To further enhance his professional development, he presently serves as Chairman of the Sixth District Dental Society’s Malpractice Claims Committee. Prior to this role, he served as President of the Sixth District Dental Society of the State of New York and the Chemung County Dental Society. He was also the Director of The Southern Tier Implant Study Club.

Dentistry, also known as Dental and Oral Medicine, is a branch of medicine that consists of the study, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases, disorders, and conditions of the oral cavity. Dentists diagnose and treat dental issues and help patients develop better oral hygiene regimens. They clean teeth, correct bite issues, perform surgeries and extractions, and perform other duties to ensure that the teeth and mouth are healthy. 

Always expanding his knowledge of dentistry, Dr. Dunn lectures locally and nationally on dental sleep medicine. He is a Director on The American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine. He has also co-authored an article on sleep medicine that was published in the Annals of the American Thoracic Society.

In his personal life, he and his wife, Nancy Dunn, have two children, Tyler, and Kyle Dunn.
