Get to know Urologist Dr. Giora Katz, who serves patients in Manitowoc, Wisconsin.

Well-versed in the field of urology, Dr. Katz works with patients at Holy Family Memorial Urology. 

In addition to all aspects of general urologic patient care, he has extensive training in malignancies of the urinary tract, urinary voiding difficulty and incontinence, urinary stone disease, and sexual dysfunction.

Academically, Dr. Katz started his career in medicine by earning his medical degree from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem Hadassah Medical School in 1978. After relocating to the United States, he went on to complete his residency in general surgery at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in 1985.

With over 40 years of experience in helping people with all types of urological concerns, the doctor is board-certified in urology by the American Board of Urology (ABU). The mission of the ABU is to act for the benefit of the public by establishing and maintaining standards of certification for urologists, and working with certified urologists to achieve lifelong learning to ensure the delivery of high quality, safe, and ethical urologic care.

Urology, also known as genitourinary surgery, is the branch of medicine that focuses on surgical and medical diseases of the male and female urinary-tract system and the male reproductive organs. Urologists specialize in diseases of the urinary tract and the male reproductive system. Patients may be referred to a urologist if their physician suspects they may need treatment for a condition relating to the bladder, prostate, urethra, ureters, kidneys, and adrenal glands.

Throughout the years, Dr. Katz has received multiple awards, including the James Ewing Foundation Trainee Award of the Society of Surgical Oncology & the Israel Society of Urology and Tel Aviv University Medical School Award for research projects in urology.
