Can a 9 year old kid get the second covid 19 dose if she is currently having a stomachache?
Stomachache can be a symptom of different medical conditions and needs to be properly diagnosed by a physician. Most of the time it is nothing serious. Booster shot can wait till the stomach pain is resolved as there is no urgency for booster. So wait till the stomach pain has been taken care of and resolved in my opinion. READ MORE

How do you bring down a fever in a child?
All fevers are not the same. Most are due to Viral Infections but some can be due to Bacterial infection and may need to be treated by child's Pediatrician. Just to bring the fever down you can use a fever reducer medication like Acetaminophen sold as brand name Tylenol or Ibuprophen sold as brand name Motrin in aporopriate dose related to child's body weight.Along with that force fluids and have child wear loose clothing in a cool envoirenment. If temp is too high you may sponge chikd's body with slightly warm water only if it is comforting to child but stop if child starts shivering. Having said that have the child examined by the Pediatrician or your Familt Physician for proper diagnosis READ MORE
How to heal an eye after getting sand in it?
If you accidentally get sand in your eye, one thing you don’t do is rub your eye and try to remove the sand with your fingers as it may cause scratch on the surface of cornea (the clear part which covers the iris, which gives color to the eye). All you need to do is wash your eye throughly with plain water from the tap so that all the sand is out of your eye. Most of the time, that is all you need, but sometimes the sand may cause abrasions on the cornea. That will cause pain, watering of eye, and sensitivity to light. If that is the case, then you need to go to ER or an Urgent Care Center where the doctor can examine and put a dye in your eye to see if there is any abrasions. If there are abrasions, the doctor may prescribe antibiotic drops and, if needed, pain medicine and refer you to an eye doctor for follow up. But I will once again caution no matter what to not rub or try to remove sand with your fingers. Most of the time, sand in the eye itself does not cause any long-term complications READ MORE
My child isn't hitting their milestones properly. Is this okay?
Most babies crawl between the age of 6 to 10 months age. But some may skip the crawling phase altogether and go straight to pulling up, cruising, and walking. You can help baby get ready for their crawling debut by giving him/her lots of supervised time on the belly. So, not crawling at 9 months is not a concern. And it is good that she is sitting upright and able to stand. Next, expect her to walk. Crawling requires a baby to use muscles in the neck, back, shoulders, and arms. And core muscles must be strong to support her weight and help maintain balance. Vision also plays a roll. They use binocular vision using both eyes. But her not turning over at age 9 months is of concern as most babies turn over between age of 4 to 7 months. Babies turn over from tummy to back at 4 months and back to front by 6 months. She may have skipped the phase of turning over and is getting ready to walk as she is standing now. I would not worry, but at the next visit with your baby’s pediatrician, discuss your concern, I recommend. READ MORE

For frequent diaper changes, I recommend Butt Paste to be applied after each diaper change. Butt Paste contains 16% Zinc oxide, Peruvian balsam, castor oil, mineral oil, paraffin, and petrolatum. If my child is lactose intolerant, will he be weak?
First of all, you have to understand what lactose intolerance is. Lactose is the sugar in the milk which can not be absorped as such and needs to be broken down in glucose and galactose in the intestine by an enzyme called lactase. The split products glucose and galactose are absorped into the blood stream to provide energy. In patients with lactose intolerance, there is either an absence or deficiency in this enzyme, lactase. So, some with the deficiency can tolerate smaller amounts of milk (lactose) and others cannot tolerate any amount of milk (lactose). The treatment consists of either avoiding lactose by feeding with lactose-free milk or giving the child an over-the-counter lactase enzyme supplement. The child will grow normally physically and mentally with this diet modification. In those children who have a complete lack of the enzyme, it is better to consult a dietician. So, as long as the diagnosis is correct and the child is treated with a diet modification, he will have no problems in growth and development. READ MORE
My son is 2 months old and tends to poop once every 4 days. The doctor says its normal but I am worried.
As long as the baby is not irritable, is feeding well, and goes a rather messy stool, I would not worry about it. Breastfed babies especially do not poop daily and may poop every third or fourth day like yours. You did not mention whether he is fed formula or by breast. READ MORE
Motion sickness in children?
To prevent motion sickness and minimize the symptoms, you can try the following: 1 Reduce Sensory input Encourage your child to look at things outside, rather than focusing on books, games or movies. If your child naps, traveling during nap time that may also help 2 Carefully plan pre-trip meals Don’t give your child spicy or greasy foods or a large meal immediately before or during travel. If your travel time will be short, skip food entirely. If the trip is long and your child needs to eat, give him or her a small bland snack such as dry crackers, and a small drink 3 provide air ventilation Adequate ventilation may help prevent motion sickness. Try to keep air clear of any strong odors 4 Other Distractions You may try distracting him/her by talking, listening to music, or singing songs If all these don’t work, you have no choice but to give your child older than 2 preventive medicine. Over-the-counter medicine like Dramamine is approved for kids over the age of 2, or Benadryl can be used for older than 6 years age. Give only the appropriate dose for body weight. The medicines are absolutely safe in correct dose and do not have any long-term side effects. Always consult your pediatrician at regular visits if he/she has any other suggestion. The preventive medicine always work in my experience. READ MORE
Is it wrong for small children to do yoga?
In spite of the controversy, in my humble opinion, yoga is beneficial for children. It enhances confidence, enhances physical flexibility and promotes physical strength. Exploring and learning in a fun, safe and playful way is the way to go.There is no reason why your child can not join you in yoga in a playful way and get not only health benefits but also have fun doing it. I don’t believe it will cause any short or long term harm to the child. READ MORE
