In regards to her education, Dr. Chappell earned her Medical Degree from the University of Tennessee College of Medicine in 1967. She went on to complete an internship at Baptist Memorial Hospital and a residency in psychiatry at Herrick Hospital Health Center followed by another residency with the University of San Francisco.

Additionally, Dr. Chappell is board certified in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). The ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to promoting high-quality patient care for the public through the initial and continuing certification of psychiatrists and neurologists. 

She really works with her patients to ensure the psychological therapy and any medicine that may be prescribed is something that they are both comfortable with, allowing them to have a partnership in the treatment.  

Her patients have excellent experiences with her, one stating, “My son and I were diagnosed and treated for 10 years. Dr. Chappell is accurate, honest and doesn’t sugar coat anything. Her advice works when it is taken. I have never found another Psychiatrist with as straight forward, cut to the chase attitude. ”
