Southeast Georgia Health System is a not-for-profit health care system with multiple locations and services. The Health System has served residents and visitors to the beautiful Golden Isles and surrounding areas of Southeast Georgia since 1888. The Brunswick Campus is located in Georgia’s Golden Isles, mid-way between Jacksonville, Florida and Savannah, Georgia. It is anchored by a 300-bed hospital with more than 300 physicians on its medical staff representing nearly every major medical specialty. In 2009, the Health System completed an expansion and major renovation of the Camden Campus to bring patients a new level of comfort and medical care in a 40-bed acute care hospital.

Pertaining to his educational pursuits, he completed his undergraduate education at the University of Debrecen, and earned his medical degree from the University of Debrecen School of Medicine in 1994. After relocating to the United States, he completed his internship and residency in emergency medicine at the New York Medical College in 2001. Later, he received his Master of Science degree in Education at the University of Florida in 2010.

As a testament of his continued education, the doctor is board-certified in emergency medicine by the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM). The ABEM is one of 24 medical specialty certification boards recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties.

Achieving fellowship status, Dr. Akhlaghi is a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians (FACEP), and Fellow of the American Academy of Emergency Medicine (FAAEM).

Emergency medicine, also known as accident and emergency medicine, is the medical specialty concerned with the care of illnesses or injuries requiring immediate medical attention. An emergency physician works in an emergency department to care for acutely ill or injured patients on an unscheduled basis.

Happily married, he and his wife, Laurien, have two boys, Johnathan and Jordan. They have been living in Florida since 2003 and they love to play tennis. Speaking several languages, he is fluent in English, Farsi, and Hungarian.
